Crystal Palace ended their pre-season preparations with a 1-1 draw against Nantes at Selhurst Park today.

Oliver Glasner had already watched his side record wins over Crawley Town, Wolves and West Ham so far this summer, with the likes of Daichi Kamada and Jeffrey Schlupp shining in particular.

The Japan international scored his second goal for Crystal Palace – his first at Selhurst Park – to equalise after Jean-Charles Castelletto opened the scoring from a corner.

Follow the thread below to see how Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw against Nantes played out in real time…

Bonus game

There was actually an additional 30 minutes played in order for some other players to get a bit of game time, and Franco Umeh managed to score a wonderful header at the Holmesdale Road End.

You can see the 19-year-old’s effort below 👏

5 talking points

– No Sam Johnstone or Jesurun Rak-Sakyi as potential exits loom

– Matheus Franca still missing as injury comeback continues

– Another bright display from Daichi Kamada, who looks capable of scoring a few goals for Crystal Palace this season

– Will Hughes starting ahead of Cheick Doucoure suggests Oliver Glasner will be careful and leave the Malian on the bench against Brentford next Sunday

– Ismaila Sarr makes debut playing as an inside right forward, suggesting he will tuck inside while Daniel Munoz goes on the overlap this season

FULL-TIME

The final whistle goes. Crystal Palace end pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Nantes.

Plenty of promising moves and some tidy possession play, but poor defending from corners and a lack of efficiency in attack cost us.

Still a lot of work to do before Brentford next Sunday 🔴🔵

Ayew sees shot blocked

A huge chance for Ayew to win it just before the end, but the Ghana international’s shot is blocked.

Where is Sarr playing?

For those of you wondering where the new man will play, Sarr is popping up out wide on the right, and also in those inside No.10 areas where Olise would often cause mayhem from.

Chris Richards is down

The American is being treated by Palace’s physio, although it just appears to be a bit of cramp after jumping for a header.

Joel Ward comes on to replace him, ahead of Rob Holding.

Kamada’s first at Selhurst

Here’s that equaliser from Kamada, for those who missed it – lovely football ❤️

Very slow

Marcus Coco slipped and now physios are on to treat the Nantes No.11

Nantes also making a number of changes as the tempo well and truly fizzles out of this game – hopefully Sarr can inject some life back into proceedings 🔥

Nantes keep the ball

The raft of changes seems to have affected Palace’s rhythm slightly.

Lots of possession from Nantes ever since Kamada equalised and Glasner hauled off six players.

Changes incoming

Here are those many changes we expected at half-time…

Lerma, Riad, Schlupp, Ayew, Doucoure enter the field, along with Sarr for his Crystal Palace debut 🇸🇳

Kamada, Wharton, Guehi, Eze, Hughes and Edouard all come off…

GOAL!

A first goal for Kamada at Selhurst Park!

Lovely flicked from Eze sets Mitchell up for a cross, which the Japan international prods home with ease – lovely goal 🥳

Nathaniel Clyne replaces Daniel Munoz

A solid 54 minutes for the Colombian – who is still feeling his way back into action for Crystal Palace after a busy summer at the Copa America 👏

Chance for Eze!

Eze swings a boot at nothing after a great low, driven cross from Mitchell.

Problem for Edouard

The Crystal Palace No.22 is on the deck with an apparent ankle problem – physios are on the pitch.

He hobbles off gingerly – but is now back on the field 💪

Second half underway

There were no substitutions from either side… so ignore our last post 😅

Expect to see the likes of Ismaila Sarr and others soon, however

Time for a break

The players are heading into the tunnel after a frustrating 45 minutes. Plenty of possession but a lack of efficiency in the final third.

Expect changes from Oliver Glasner for the next 45 minutes…

What. A. Pass.

Wharton has just fizzed a fantastic ball into Edouard on the edge of the six yard box, but the Frenchman wanted far too much time to release his shot – blocked for a corner which comes to nothing.

Close again!

Eze has a golden chance to score after collecting Munoz’s cross just besides the penalty spot, but the Palace No.10 sadly scuffed his shot ❌

Close to an equaliser

Tyrick Mitchell was just inches away from meeting Daichi Kamada’s low cross to the back post – better from Palace 👏

Horrible challenge

Daniel Munoz was just absolutely clattered as he surged into the Nantes half.

The Colombian remained on the ground for a while, but he is now back on his feet and seems okay.

No place for a challenge like that in a friendly 😡

Promising partnership is blossoming on the right

Daichi Kamada has slipped Daniel Munoz in down the right on several occasions now – the Japan international is linking up with his new teammate very well…

Corners a problem once again

Mark Bright is hammering the Crystal Palace players for their defending at corners while speaking on commentary duty, and he has a point.

A major issue from last season is unfortunately rearing its ugly head once again…

Patient play

Lots of tidy passing from Palace but struggling to find an opening.

In the meantime, it should be noted that Will Hughes starting ahead of Cheick Doucoure suggests Oliver Glasner will bench the Malian against Brentford next Sunday, as he continues his comeback from a serious Achilles injury…

No Matheus Franca

It seems the Brazilian is not fit enough (yet) to take part in today’s friendly, as the groin problem from last season continues to trouble him…

No Jesurun Rak-Sakyi…

The Crystal Palace No.49 is not in the squad today as he is seemingly close to joining Sheffield United on loan.

However, a number of Championship sides have made late attempts to hijack that move…
